Chaplain - Career Track Information


Specialty Track Training

Upon appointment chaplains are awarded the 221 Specialty Track with a technician specialty rating. 

  • All chaplains must complete CAPP 221 and appropriate time-in-grade requirements to be eligible for promotion to major and award of the senior specialty rating. 

  • CAPP 221A must be completed along with the appropriate time-in grade to be eligible for promotion to lieutenant colonel and award of the master specialty rating.

Appointments and Promotions requirements are found in CAPR 35-5 and CAPP 265-1Chaplains may qualify for professional appointment and promotion depending upon their education and professional experience.
